Greetings Del Paso Church:

It’s been years since the Church has received messages/emails entitled “A Note from Bill”…  Years ago then Youth Pastor Kevin Katz and I published a monthly newsletter, and this was the title of my section… I think it’s time for one now… So here it goes…

I sure do miss our weekly congregational worship services, with the smiles, hugs, teasing, and laughter.  It’s been about seven weeks since Gigi and the band inspired us to look beyond our concerns to a loving Father who listens and reminds us that He’s got us.  Please read the words of Isaiah the Prophet as he wrote about the future of Israel 41:10:

“Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories.”

I am really looking forward to those victories Isaiah spoke about. His words were an encouragement to the people of the nation and declared the Lord had a great future in store for them; and also for us.

As you know our State continues the implementation of the four-stage plan to gradually reopen some lower-risk businesses and public spaces while continuing to preserve public health, currently we are in Stage 2 and progressing well.  Earlier today, I read about a group of California churches that have set May 31, 2020 as their reopen date, we however will not be in this number.

I would very much like this to be our day, (it is also my wedding anniversary) however, for planning purposes, I’m leaning towards a bit more patient process.  We want to be responsible community members, not only would older adults be asked to and likely will stay away from in-person worship right now, but parents of young children, and especially people caring for “at-risk” loved ones will think long and hard before possibly risking their health.

I feel we will be able to meet as usual long before the end of the summer, in fact, I’m thinking our reopening will happen sometime between mid to late June.  Please remember I am not a physician.  So I ask you to hang on in there.  There will no doubt be a number of protocols (protective measures) implemented at church to keep folks healthy.  I believe the countdown has begun.

Let’s Stay Faithful….and Stay the Course! In His Great Love
